CS101 Introduction to Programming is the first programming course of the BSc Computer Science, taught by Dr. Elena Hartley. Students learn Python from first principles: variables, control flow, functions, data types and simple file handling, finishing with a small text-adventure project. No prior programming experience is required.

The course runs in Fall 2026 and is worth 10 credits. It meets Mon & Wed 10:00–11:30, Hargrove Hall 204. The final exam takes place on Wednesday 9 December 2026, 09:00–12:00, in the Great Hall.
